Flying Whale

The pilot's app

Your flight, briefed. Your hours, logged.

Flying Whale is the SkyDynamics app for pilots: your roster, weather and NOTAMs decoded for every sector, navigation data on the phone, and a logbook filed from the flights you fly. It supports your decision. You make it.

Decision support

Decision support for every sector. Weather and NOTAMs decoded, sorted and weighed before you read them.

For the departure, the destination and each alternate, Flying Whale turns the raw METAR, TAF and NOTAMs into a briefing you can take in at a glance: what the weather is, which NOTAMs matter and what the wind does on each runway. It informs the decision. The decision stays with the pilot in command.

and three more, by category

  1. Raw text, as published

The METAR, TAF and every NOTAM stay one tap away, exactly as issued.

  2. Decoded

Wind, visibility, weather, cloud and pressure in plain fields, with the TAF trends.

  3. Weighed

A caution or significant label from fixed thresholds, and the wind split into head and crosswind for each runway end.

  4. NOTAMs sorted

Twelve categories, from runway and lighting to airspace, with the critical ones first.

  5. What it means for the airport

An inferred status (open, limited or closed) drawn from the NOTAMs, marked as inferred.

Inferred from the NOTAMs, not an official aerodrome status.

  • Decoded, raw text beside it

Wind, visibility, weather, cloud and pressure in plain fields, the TAF trends and the last hours of history.

  • Twelve NOTAM categories

Runway, taxiway, lighting, procedures, navaids, airspace and more, with critical items first and a view per runway.

  • Wind and runway condition

Head, tail and crosswind for each runway end, and runway condition codes decoded from the reports.

  • Advisory by design

Every figure is marked as informational. The app does not calculate performance or replace your official briefing.

Flying Whale is a pilot companion. It is not a certified electronic flight bag or an official briefing source, and its wind figures are not a certified calculation. The pilot in command remains responsible for the safe conduct of the flight.

Navigation data

The data is on the phone. Updated every month, and there without a signal.

Airports, runways, frequencies, navaids, procedures and airspace are stored on the phone, so airport search, runway details and procedure previews work with no connection. A new data cycle arrives every month and is downloaded and checked in the app. Only live information needs a link.

Up to date

  • Offline first

Search an airport, read its runways and frequencies, or preview a departure, an arrival or an approach with no signal.

  • A new cycle every month

The app shows the installed cycle, the one available and its validity, and checks each download before installing it.

  • Live when connected

Current weather, NOTAMs, map layers and aircraft positions arrive when the phone has a link. The last ones loaded stay readable.

Monthly data updates are SkyDynamics' service statement for Flying Whale. The cycle numbers in the figure are illustrative.

Logbook

A logbook that fills itself. From your roster to a page you can print and sign.

Connect your company roster and the sectors you fly are filed in your logbook automatically, two hours after each duty ends, marked for your review. You confirm the times, the role, the landings and the approaches. When you need the book on paper, export it in the EASA or the FAA layout as a print-ready PDF, with page totals and your signature.

  1. Your roster

Completed sectors come from the company roster you connected, or from a photo or PDF of it.

  2. Filed for you

Each sector is filed two hours after the duty ends and marked for your review.

  3. Checked by you

You confirm or correct times, role, landings and approaches. Nothing is final until you say so.

  4. Exported

An EASA or FAA layout as a print-ready PDF, or a CSV file.

Brought forward

I certify that this is a true record of the flights shown on this page.

Signature

  • Filed from your roster

Completed sectors arrive on their own. Where there is no direct connection, a photo or a PDF of the roster is read on the phone.

  • EASA and FAA layouts

Function times, night, IFR, landings and approaches, with simulator sessions and opening balances.

  • Print-ready pages

Landscape pages with page totals, time brought forward, the certification line and your signature. A CSV export as well.

  • A photo of the flight log

Photograph the flight log page on the aircraft display and the times are read on the phone. Nothing is uploaded.

A personal logbook: it is not a certified electronic logbook or a submission to an authority, and its currency figures are informational.

Company connectivity

Connected to your company. One sign-in with your aeroEBT account, and your roster behind it.

Flying Whale works on its own. Sign in with the aeroEBT account your company gave you and it also carries your training schedule, the data your organisation publishes and the profile of the aircraft you are about to fly. Connect your roster and your hours file themselves. Your logbook joins your aeroEBT record, and your CV is generated from it.

Your data

On your phone. Yours by default.

  • Stored on the device

Your roster, flight plans and logbook are stored on the phone.

  • No account needed

Airports, weather, NOTAMs, procedures and the logbook work without signing in.

  • No tracking

The app does not track you and does not sell personal data.

  • Yours to delete

Delete your local data, your roster credentials or your company connection from Settings at any time.

What it is

A pilot companion. Not a certified EFB, and it says so.

Flying Whale is built to inform. Its own screens say where it stops.

  • Not an official briefing

Weather and NOTAMs are informational. Your official briefing stays your official briefing.

  • Not a performance tool

Wind components and runway condition are decoded, not calculated for take-off or landing performance.

  • Not a certified logbook

A personal record you can print and sign, not a submission to an authority.

  • The pilot decides

The pilot in command remains responsible for the safe conduct of the flight.

Flying Whale: questions pilots ask

Flying Whale is the SkyDynamics app for pilots. It brings together the roster, a decoded weather and NOTAM briefing for every sector, navigation data stored on the phone and a personal logbook that is filed from the flights you fly and exported in the EASA or the FAA layout.

Yes, in the plain sense: it decodes, sorts and weighs the information a pilot needs before a sector, so the decision is quicker and better informed. It does not give instructions, calculate performance or replace the official briefing, and the pilot in command decides.

Yes for everything stored on the phone: airports, runways, frequencies, procedures, airspace, your roster and your logbook, and the last weather and NOTAMs you loaded. Current weather, NOTAMs, map layers and a roster refresh need a connection.

A new navigation data cycle is published every month. The app shows the installed cycle and the one available, and checks each download before installing it.

From your roster. Completed sectors are filed two hours after the duty ends and marked for your review. Where there is no direct roster connection for your company, a photo or a PDF of the roster is read on the phone, and you can always add an entry by hand or from a photo of the flight log page.

Yes. Export the EASA or the FAA layout as a print-ready PDF, with page totals, time brought forward, the certification line and your signature, or export a CSV file.

Yes. You sign in with your aeroEBT account, your logbook hours join your aeroEBT record, and your CV is generated from them. The same sign-in shows your training schedule and your company's data.

Weather comes from the NOAA Aviation Weather Center. NOTAMs come from the FAA NOTAM services, and an additional NOTAM source is added in the app for airports outside the United States. The source and its age are shown on the screen.

Your roster, flight plans and logbook are stored on your phone. Signing in with a company account is optional: it brings your company's data to the phone and joins your logbook to your aeroEBT record. Disconnecting removes the company data from the phone.
